Hold to talk

Hold your key, speak, let go. The text is typed at your cursor.

Hands-free

Double-tap the key to keep listening without holding it. Tap once more to stop.

Cancel

Press Esc while recording and nothing is typed.

Works in any app

It types into whatever has focus. If pasting isn't allowed yet, the text is copied so you can paste it yourself.

Choose your key

fn by default on a Mac, Right Control on Windows and Linux. You can pick Option/Alt, Command/Windows, Control or Right Shift instead.

Languages and accuracy

90+ languages

Whisper detects the language automatically. Mixing English and Spanish in the same day, or the same sentence, works.

Speech models

Pick the trade-off: Fastest (English only, 148 MB), Fast (148 MB), Balanced (190 MB) or Best (574 MB). Apple Silicon Macs default to Best; other machines default to Balanced.

Speed

About 0.3s to transcribe a 12-second clip on an M-series Mac with the Best model.

Custom vocabulary

Add names, product terms and jargon so they come out spelled right.

Offline

Transcription runs on your computer. Once a model is downloaded, no internet connection is needed to dictate.

AI cleanup (optional)

What it does

Fixes punctuation, removes filler words like “um” and “uh”, and keeps only the correction when you change your mind mid-sentence (“no wait, I mean Thursday”).

What it doesn't do

It never translates, and it doesn't rewrite what you said into something else.

How it runs

Uses Claude with your own Anthropic API key, on any plan. Off by default. Only the text is sent, never audio.
