Vurb support and troubleshooting

Email hello@vurb.me and a person will reply. Most problems are one of the ones below.

Troubleshooting

Text isn't typed into the app (Mac)

Vurb needs Accessibility permission to type. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and turn Vurb on. If it's already on, select it, remove it with the minus button, then add it again — this often happens after an update. Until it's granted, Vurb copies the text to your clipboard so you can paste it.

Vurb doesn't hear anything

Make sure Vurb is allowed to use the microphone (macOS: Privacy & Security → Microphone; Windows: Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone). Then check that the right input device is selected in your system sound settings.

The pill appears but nothing is pasted

A few apps don't accept simulated typing. The text is still saved in your history, so you can copy it from there.

The key does nothing on Linux

Vurb listens for keys through X11. If you're on a Wayland session, log out and choose an X11 session at the login screen.

Transcription is slow

Switch to a smaller model in settings. Balanced is a good choice on most computers. Best is meant for Apple Silicon Macs.

macOS or Windows won't open the installer

The beta installers aren't signed yet. See Download for how to open them.
